   Dole plc (previously named Dole Food Company) is a multinational fresh produce provider headquartered in Dublin, Ireland.

   The company operates through the following business sectors: Fresh Fruit, Diversified Fresh Produce – EMEA and Diversified Fresh Produce- Americas & ROW and Fresh Vegetables.

   PepsiCo sells bottled fruit beverages under license using the Dole brand. Dole also has an agreement with The Walt Disney Company to encourage fruit and vegetable consumption among children.

   Dole traces its origin back to 1851 when Castle & Cooke was established by Samuel Northrup Castle and Amos Starr Cooke. The company became one of the largest companies in Hawaii, investing in shipping, railroad construction, sugar production, and seafood packing.

   In the 1960s, Castle & Cooke acquired the Hawaiian Pineapple Company and the Standard Fruit Company.

   The Hawaiian Pineapple Company was founded in 1901 by James Dole, who opened his first pineapple plantation in the central plateau of the Hawaiian island of Oahu. 

   In 1991, the company was renamed The Dole Food Company, Inc.

   In 1995, Castle & Cooke Inc. was spun off as a real estate company.

   In 2012, Dole Food Company Inc. sold its worldwide packaged foods and Asia fresh produce businesses to Itochu Corporation.

   In 2018, Total Produce acquired a 45% stake in the Dole Food Company.

   In 2021, Dole Food Company merged with Total Produce plc to create Dole plc.

   In July 2021, Dole was listed on the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE).

   Total Produce’s origins date back to the 1850s when McCann Fruit, a fruit and vegetable business, was established in North East, Ireland.

   In 1858, the local consolidation across Ireland culminated in the creation of FII (Fruit Importers of Ireland).

   In 1981, FII became a public limited company.

   In 2006, the company was rebranded with the formation of Total Produce plc.

   With more than 38,000 employees, Dole plc is considered one of the world’s largest producers of fruit and vegetables. According to Forbes, it is considered one of the Largest Public Companies in the World.
